Escape To A Place Far, Far, Away

'The Dawn Star' by Catherine Asaro. After the lead up from the previous novel, I was looking for a culmination of the previous stories in this one. Although she did a great job in exposing the emotions felt by Cobalt and Mel, I feel like she fell short in completing these events - unless she has another novel planned. We never really hear about Mel's parents again and the other members of her family, except for a new look at Drummer, who hadn't been mentioned since the first novel. I can understand that this novel is mainly centered around the journey that Mel has to undergo, but it would have been interesting if the other mages that we had come to love through these stories made a final appearance in this novel. I enjoyed this story, but it just seemed anti-climatic in its ending. 'Cursor's Fury' by Jim Butcher. To me, Cursor's Fury by far is the best Butcher has written. Throughout the book clues are given as to the course of Tavi's life, but they are in no way spelled out for you. The book makes you think and keeps the plot turning. I will only read once and then never set eyes on again, but for a few special books I place on my shelves as keepers. Cursor's Fury by Jim Butcher has definitely earned a spot on my keeper shelf. Oh, I must clarify that I'm talking about my electronic Book shelf! Check below for the Coupon Code to receive a Discount on either of these two eBooks.

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty... Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty...

'Night Watch' by Terry Pratchett. One of Terry Pratchett's knacks (he has several) is the ability to take an essentially serious theme and mine it for countless funny bits, but never losing sight of the larger themes that lurk behind his wry tales. If you are a Discworld fan, you will enjoy this eBook. Moreover, if you are not a Discworld fan, what is keeping you? 'The Catswold Portal' by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. I found this eBook to be exceptionally original. As a reader of Sci-Fi Fantasy for over 25 years I can say that this one is a keeper.. (I have just finished it for a 3rd time) Murphy's descriptions allow the reader to have vivid pictures of the characters and the places. As the story progresses, Melissa must work to face her fears, find her loves, and live her dreams. Get the Coupon Code below to receive a Discount on these two eBook Titles.

Extremely Liberal..Not Religious..Morally Centered..?

'The Steep Approach to Garbadale' by Iain Banks. If you enjoy stories with characters that are gritty, earthy, extremely liberal and not religious or morally centered, you may like this book. This book has not been reviewed too kindly, but I actually enjoyed it a lot. Interlaced with the business stuff is the family stuff, notably Alban's obsession with his cousin Sophie. Yes, it is a little like a soap, but I found it quite fascinating. The family story is told through narrative that jumps backwards and forwards in time. The Time-Jumping can be a little annoying at times with other books I have read but this one did not seem to bother me. I didn't find it obtrusive or confusing. Well done Mr. Banks! 'Once Bitten, Twice Shy' by Jennifer Rardin. I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this novel. Rardin ads a perfect blend of humor and humility to an otherwise strong female lead character. I can't believe that this is her debut novel. With a seemingly over-abundance of vampire novels, I found this as a fun, light-hearted, supernatural, spy novel. Bingeley-bingeley boo!

"Jingo" is a good light reading, with some serious insights about human behavior mixed in. Once again Terry Pratchett mirrors the irreverence of our own world with this charming little novel concerning a war between a very western Ankh-Morpork and a very middle-eastern Klatch. I must admit I am a sucker for the Witches of Lancre stories and "Carpe Jugulum" is a spiritual journey for the doubting Oats that explores faith, religion and the nature of Good. Both these Pratchett eBooks are a must read! Look below for your coupon this week on these two titles.

Jingo eBook edition by Pratchett, Terry It isn't much of an island that rises up one moonless night from the depths of the Circle Sea -- just a few square miles of silt and some old ruins. Unfortunately, the historically disputed lump of land called Leshp is once again floating directly between Ankh-Morpork and the city of Al-Khali on the coast of Klatch -- which is spark enough to ignite that glorious internationalpastime called "war." Pressed into patriotic service, Commander Sam Vimes thinks he should be leading his loyal watchmen, female watchdwarf, and lady werewolf into battle against local malefactors rather than against uncomfortably well-armed strangers in the Klatchian desert. But war is, after all, simply the greatest of all crimes -- and it's Sir Samuel's sworn duty to seek out criminal masterminds wherever they may be hiding ... and lock them away before they can do any real damage. Even the ones on his own side. › More Info Carpe Jugulum eBook edition by Pratchett, Terry His latest satiric triumph, Carpe Jugulum, involves an exclusive royal snafu that leads to comic mayhem. In a fit of enlightenment democracy and ebullient goodwill, King Verence invites Uberwald's undead, the Magpyrs, into Lancre to celebrate the birth of his daughter. But once ensconced within the castle, these wine-drinking, garlic-eating, sun-loving modern vampires have no intention of leaving. Ever. Only an uneasy alliance between a nervous young priest and the argumentative local witches can save the country from being taken over by people with a cultivated bloodlust and bad taste in silk waistcoats. For them, there's only one way to fight. Go for the throat, or as the vampyres themselves say...Carpe Jugulum › More Info
